The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Kogi command yesterday said it has seized a total of 26.352Kg of cannabis sativa and arrested five suspects including 31-year-old woman, Aisha Idi, in connection with the seizures.
State commander of NDLEA, Idris Bello, disclosed this while parading the suspects arrested by operatives of the command during stop and search operations.
He explained that the female drug dealer who took ill shortly after arrest was nabbed with 10 parcels of cannabis sativa weighing 11.9 kg at NATACO area of Lokoja on her way from Owo in Ondo State enroute Kano.
NDLEA boss said that Aisha who hailed from Bunkuri local government area of Kano had jumped out of the vehicle and ran into the bush when she was flagged down by the operatives of the agency but was caught.
This, according to the commander aroused the suspicion of the NDLEA operatives leading to a search on the bus where the parcels were discovered.
The state commander also paraded one Nasiru Alhassan, 28, caught with 5.4kg of cannabis sativa neatly packed in his travelling bag.
Alhassan, who claimed to be a labourer was apprehended on Okene-Abuja highway while returning from Ogbese in Ondo State .
Bello also paraded one Bamayi Moses, who was nabbed at Kabba Junction on Kabba-Obajana road with a stolen laptop, 11 assorted handsets, three jack knives, several identity cards, wrist watches and other personal effects.
