Jose Mourinho is set to hold talks with Manchester United on Tuesday (today), following the sacking of Louis van Gaal, despite the club’s FA Cup win on Saturday.
He will reportedly pocket a whopping £5million severance package from Manchester United.
Mourinho looks set to replace the Dutchman and his representatives are set to meet the Red Devils hierarchy to thrash out terms.
The former Chelsea boss’ deal at United is likely to be around £60million over three years, which would eclipse even Pep Guardiola’s contract at Manchester City.
The former Barcelona and Bayern Munich boss was announced as Manuel Pellegrini’s successor at the Etihad, and will earn around £15m-a –year.
Mourinho was one of the favourites to replace Sir Alex Ferguson as United manager back in 2013, when he left Real Madrid.
However, David Moyes was appointed as Old Trafford boss and the former Inter and Real Madrid manager returned to Chelsea.
Despite winning a third Premier League title at Stamford Bridge, a horror defence in 2015-16, which saw eight league defeats in 16 games, meant he was sacked.
It was gathered that a furious Van Gaal yesterday demanded answers as to why he was sacked.
Van Gaal and his staff have been left totally bemused by the move to replace him with Jose Mourinho.
