Ortom's senior security aide Killed by Gunmen in Benue

Unknown gun­men on Thursday night shot and killed Governor Samuel Ortom’s Senior Special Assistant on Special Security, Mr Denen Igbana in his Makurdi residence at about midnight.
Eye witness account revealed that Mr Igbana who was one of the top security aides and confidant of Ortom was trailed by the assassins who rode on motorcy­cle to his house where they opened fire on his white Hi­lux van.

It revealed further that the victim, apparently sens­ing danger, made efforts to escape through other routes out of the unfenced com­pound but was unsuccessful as had been blocked.
Governor Samuel Or­tom who was among early callers at the deceased’s residence located on km 5 Makurdi-Naka Road de­scribed the late Igbana as a dependable aide who gave everything, including his life, to rid the state of crim­inal elements.
He charged security agencies in the state to do a thorough investigation into the matter stating that who­ever is responsible should be brought to full justice.
The governor also placed a ban on the move­ment of motorcycles from the hours of 8pm to 6am as a measure of combating motorcycle-aided crimes in the state.
The State Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Mo­ses Yamu, confirmed the killing and added that in­vestigation into the mat­ter was ongoing. The police also confirmed the killing yesterday of a police offic­er in Makurdi.
