DSS operative misfires, kills female passenger in Kaduna

A woman was Wednesday afternoon killed at the Jere area of Kaduna State by an operative of the Department of State Services (‎DSS).
The agent reportedly killed her in error, as the person he was targeting escaped.

“The woman was not their target. The security men flagged down a vehicle, and the driver refused to stop,” a witness told The Cable.

“Immediately they opened fire and a stray bullet hit a woman in a commercial vehicle nearby,” the witness said.

“The woman died on the spot and her five children who were in the bus with her wept uncontrollably.

“Her corpse was taken to the Toll Gate at Kakau/Sabon Gayan community. The people who saw the corpse were enraged, and this triggered protests”, he added.

Confirming the incident, Kaduna State Commissioner of Police, Adamu Ibrahim, said the operative had been arrested.

He further appealed to residents to remain calm.
