Leave Ekweremadu alone, face your serial fumbles - PDP

The opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has asked the Federal Government to leave the Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu, alone and concentrate on what it calls its serial fumbles.
It described the persecution of Ekweremadu as the height of intolerance and executive excesses unwarranted and inexcusable in a democracy.
In a press statement signed by the PDP National Caretaker Committee’s Spokesman, Prince Dayo Adeyeye, the party said that Ekweremadu and the President of the Senate, Bukola Saraki are presently facing court case on alleged forgery of Senate Rules.

The party pointed out that Ekweremadu is not the stumbling block of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), adding that the opposition lawmakers, including Senator Ekweremadu has provided a very responsible opposition, supporting the government and overlooking its serial fumbles.
“We wish to remind the APC that the National Assembly is a separate arm of government created by the constitution, not an arm of the executive or extension of the APC’s party secretariat.
“We totally align with the separate resolutions of the Senate and House of Representatives on June 21, 2016 to the effect that our democracy is in grave danger.
“We support the call on members of the International community, the media, and the civil society to help arrest this scary deterioration of our nascent democracy and democratic values before it is too late”, it said.
