NFF to name Eagles technical adviser in August

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) said that it has extended the search for a new Super Eagles technical adviser till August as it has opened the entry to accommodate as many interested coaches as would apply for the job which was earlier rejected by Frenchman, Paul Le Guen.
Chairman of the NFF technical and development committee, Chris Green, said in an interview yesterday that the committee could not meet with the seven days deadline given to it by the executive board because it wants to get the best coach for the team, adding that efforts were on to ensure it does not exceed August.
``We will be reporting back to the board very soon, but cannot say the day. We are almost at the end of the process. We are taking a different approach this time but we are keeping everything to the chest because of the experience we had with Le Guen.

``As I speak with you, we have contacted the candidates, asked questions and conducted interviews and will be announcing him soon; what is left is for us to verify the information we have. So, I think we are on course; we have looked at a lot of people but we have zeroed down on one person,’’ Green disclosed.
The technical committee chairman further said that the preliminary list of applicants was entirely different from the initial list, adding that coaches were still applying for the job even when submissions of entries had closed.
``We considered extending the search based on the people that are just applying. However, by next month (August), we will announce the outcome to Nigerians,’’ he added.
The NFF had named Salisu Yusuf as the new Super Eagles head coach pending Le Guen’s replacement.
Coach of Enugu Rangers, Imama Amapakabo was picked as Yusuf’s assistant, while Alloy Agu was retained as the team’s goalkeepers’ trainer.
