Again, U-23 team fails to fly to Rio... Dalung intervenes

Nigeria Olympic team, Dream Team VI, again failed to fly out of their training base in Atlanta, Georgia, United States of America.
The team will now travel to Brazil today, the Ministry of Sports confirmed yesterday.
Dream team VI were originally scheduled to fly out of the USA for Rio on Friday, but could not as their tickets were not ready. Thus, Monday (yesterday) was announced as the new departure date by the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF). It also suggested that plans were being made to charter flight to take the team to Manaus, Brazil venue of their first game against Japan on Friday.
Again, the team could not travel due to ticketing issues. But the ministry of Sports said that the intervention of the minister, Barrister Dalung, ensured confirmation of their tickets and departure today (Tuesday).

According to Senior Adviser (Media) to the Minister, Nneka Ikem-Anibeze, Dalung, who is in the United States of America to visit the football and basketball teams ahead of the games, waded into the matter, after he had been briefed on the state of affairs in the players' camp by the captain of the team John Mikel Obi and the Consulate in Atlanta.
“Arrangements have been concluded to airlift the team to Manaus, Brazil venue of their first game in a chartered plane on Tuesday (Today), August 2, 2016,” said Dalung.
Nigeria’s opening match is on Friday by 2am Nigerian time against Japan.
Sweden and Colombia are the other teams in their qualifying group.
