Gov Bello: God sent me to govern Kogi

Kogi State governor, Yahaya Bello yesterday said that the verdict of the Court of Appeal which upheld his election was a confirmation of divine mandate for him to rescue the state from stagnation.

Speaking with State House Correspondents shortly after he joined President Muhammadu Buhari to observe Juma'at prayers at the Presidential Villa, Bello said "I am on a divine mission.

"And I will do nothing less than to continue to develop the state and to curb corruption, waste and mismanagement and to put the state on developmental map."

He also extended the olive branch to his opponents, especially his major rival, James Faleke, to support him in developing Kogi State.

"I have extended the olive branch to my opponents on several occasions and at this time, I am extending it again to my brother, Hon. James Faleke, to come and let us join hands together to lift Kogi State.

"The state was in a big mess as of the time we came on board. He should join hands with me to save the state from the claws of those who had held it down over the years", Bello said.

The governor said the people of Kogi state should expect development, prosperity and good governance all the way from his government .

He further explained that Kogi has a united legislative assembly, saying there has never been any face off between the executive and the legislature in the state.

According to him, there has always been misunderstanding in every legislative house and Kogi State was no exception.
