Kelechi Iheanacho will outlast Alex Iwobi and Ahmed Musa in the Champions League this season

Nigeria fans have backed the Manchester City man to be the last Super Eagle standing this season, according to Goal readers.

Ahead of the midweek fixtures in the UCL the opening round of the group stage Goal asked our readers which of the preeminent Super Eagles in the competition would go the furthest.

You voted in your droves, with wonderkid Iheanacho who found the net in Manchester City’s opening 4-0 victory against Borussia Monchengladbach receiving your backing ahead of his compatriots by some distance.

The teenage striker received a whopping 62 percent of the votes, while Iwobi and Arsenal came second with 40 percent of the votes.
There’s clearly not much faith for Leicester City and Musa fairytale Premier League champions last season with only nine percent of readers tipping the Foxes to outlast their more illustrious domestic rivals in this season’s European showpiece.

Surely, however, optimism for Leicester’s chances of a longer run in the competition will surely be boosted after their impressive debut in the competition, as they eased past Club Brugge 3-0 away, with Riyad Mahrez scoring twice.

The Foxes’ impressive showing comes in contrast to their London rivals, with Arsenal only managing a late 1-1 draw against Paris Saint-Germain, and Tottenham Hotspur falling to a 2-1 home defeat by AS Monaco.
