RIO 2016 PARALYMPICS: Nollywood Actress Wins another Gold for Nigeria

Nollywood actress, Laurita Onye has clinched a gold medal at the ongoing Paralympics in Brazil. Onye who starred in a Nollywood film, Lords of Money which was released in 2015, competed in the in the shot put event where she did not only clinch a gold medal but also broke a world record with her 8.40m throw.
Nigeria's medal haul at the ongoing Paralympic Games in Rio, Brazil has risen to nine, four short of
the total haul of 13 they recorded in the 2012 Paralympics. The Paralympics is a special version of the Olympic games designed for the physically challenged.

This is a heartwarming news to majority of Nigeria's Sports lovers, considering that our able-bodied Olympians could only manage a paltry Bronze medal at the games a few weeks ago and placed an embarrassing joint 78th position, after the Games. The Nigerian  Paralympic Team is presently placed 10th on the media table.

I am specially delighted about the achievement of Lauritta Onye, who is better known in Nollywood circles as Lauritta Whyte, not just for the fact that she is a Thespian like me, but for the tallness of her dreams, even with her physical deficiency. She should serve as an inspiration to anyone who may be proffering excuses for not reaching his or her potentials. I am also happy for the producers of the Lords of Money and other films she had done before taking part in these Games, as she is sure to attract good sales to them.
Best for the future, Laury.
