APGA Ends Rift, As NWC Passes Vote of Confidence on Oye

The National Working Committee (NWC) of the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) has affirmed the resolution of the National leadership to end the lingering infighting in the par­ty within the last one month as it gives its National Chairman, Dr Ike Oye vote of confidence.
Recall that the embat­tled Vice chairman of APGA (Southeast zone), Ozo Nwabueze Okafor had claimed to have presided over a meeting of the national working com­mittee to ratify a purported sus­pension of the national chair­man Ozonkpu Dr Victor Ike Oye.

The NWC had at a meet­ing yesterday which was attend­ed by 21 out of 28 members of the committee held at its Na­tional Headquarters in Abu­ja endorsed the decision of the National leadership of the par­ty held on October 11,2016 in Awka, Anambra state, that the internal disagreement in the party has been resolved.
The committee called on aggrieved members of the NWC to abide by the decision of the party and revert to sta­tus quo antebellum in the in­terest of stability and progress of the party.
The NWC also reaffirmed the support of its National Leadership under Dr Ike Oye as National Chairman of the party.
Meanwhile Fielding ques­tions from Journalists, at the end of the NWC meeting, the National Publicity Secretary of the party, Hon Ifeatu Obi-Okoye said there is no sanc­tion on the factional leader of the party And Vice Chairman South-East,Ozo Nwabueze Okafor and his group.
He also noted that three members of the NWC that were absent from yesterday’s meet­ing were duly excused from the meeting.
Obi-Okoye had in a state­ment on Wednesday assured members and well-wishers of the Party that no meeting of APGA NWC was ever held at any time or in any place where decision to remove the incum­bent National Chairman was ever taken.
The statement reads in part: “Besides, Ozo Nwabueze Okafor, as a zonal vice chair­man of the Party, does not have the constitutional pow­ers to either convene or preside over a meeting of the nation­al working committee (NWC)of APGA.
“Once again, members of the national working commit­tee (NWC)of APGA, remain unquestionably committed to the resolutions reached at the Peace meeting convened at the instance of the nation­al leader and chairman Board of Trustees, Governor Willie Obiano, on Wednesday Oc­tober 13 2016; wherein mem­bers of the national working committee (NWC) collective­ly committed themselves to the continued growth and develop­ment of our great Party, under the leadership of Ozonkpu Dr Victor Ike Oye, as the national chairman.”
