Return Anambra’s Money – APC tells Mrs Ebele Obiano

Sequel to the damning confirmation from the Minority Leader of Anambra State House of Assembly, Hon Onyebuchi Offor, the All Progressives Congress APC Anambra state has asked the Speaker of the Anambra state House of Assembly, Barr Maduagwu Rita to resign immediately over the alleged approval of 1.2 billion naira and 250 million naira respectively for Obiano and his wife as their monthly security votes. The party equally asked Obiano’s wife, Mrs Ebele Obiano to immediately refund the monies she must have collected as security vote, as she is not known by any law to have appropriated such public fund monthly.

According to the minority leader of the state Assembly, Hon Offor who made the revelation on a live radio programme, Obiano’s wife receives 250 million naira monthly and as at this month she has received about 10 billion naira from the state fund since March 2014 when the husband came into office.

The party made this known in a statement signed by its Publicity Secretary, Mr Okelo Madukaife. According to Mr. Okelo, the fact that Hon Maduagwu had presided over such flagrant abuse of office called on the speaker to resign her position as speaker to enable the house elect a new speaker who would then lead the process of reversal and recover for the state and good people of Anambra the monies illegally obtained by Mrs Obiano.

“We expect that the difference between the new vote and the old should be returned to the treasury by Obiano (and his wife) with unreserved apologies to Ndi Anambra to enable history be kind to him, when he would have finally vacated office on March 17, 2018.”

“We have always had reason to believe that a private citizen whose only structural connection to governance is that she is married to a high official in governance cannot donate houses claimed to have been built at the cost of N41m each…”

“We have always worried that the fast-paced construction and engagement in new mega-cash businesses at the instance of Mrs. Obiano can only point its putrid fingers in a direction which fear has now been confirmed.”
“We call for a broad audit of all projects being executed by Mrs. Obiano and hope that the new speaker of the house after Maduagwuna’s resignation will organize a proper review downwards of these security votes.
Regarding Gov Obiano, we now see why no meaningful infrastructure worth the signature of Ndi Anambra has been erected in the state in nearly three years.” APC stated.

“Anambra people are very disappointed that in this day and age in the state of the Nigerian economy, Gov Obiano who recently tried to cover up his illegal extortion of Anambra market women in ‘wheel barrow tax’, ‘hawkers tax’, and all other illegal taxes, by pretending to provide for ‘at least N3bn’ for industries has pocketed N36bn of Anambra State funds in the name of security votes.”

The publicity secretary also urged the people of the state to be ready to take their destiny in their hands as under Governor Obiano the state had drifted backwards.

Meanwhile, APGA Interactive Forum learnt that Obiano held a secret meeting yesterday with Madam Speaker where the governor compelled the speaker to mobilise her loyalists and beat up the minority leader should he attempt to move any motion against him at the floor of the house. The plot according to a source was to suspend Hon Offor at the end of the “free for all”.
