FG, Dangote Group Sign N11.5bn Road Contract

The Federal Govern­ment and Dangote Group have struck a deal to construct a concrete pavement road in Kogi State.
The parties sealed the agreement on Tuesday when they signed a contract for the construction of the 42.5-kilo­metre Obajana-Kabba Road in Kog State.
According to the News Agency of Nigeria, the re­gional spokesman of Dangote Group, Mr. Jibrin Abubakar, said that work would com­mence in full on the project after signing the document in Abuja.

Abubakar said that the Permanent Secretary, Feder­al Ministry of Power, Works and Housing, Mr. Magaji Gu­sau, represented the Federal Government while the Ad­viser to the President of the Dangote Group, Mr. Joseph Makoju, signed for the group.
According to him, Ma­koju said the exercise was a milestone in Nigeria’s history, stressing that the rigid pave­ment will be built by the AG Dangote Construction Com­pany.
The project will cost the Dangote Group N11.5 bil­lion. The job was awarded to the conglomerate on tax con­cession basis at N5.24 billion.
The difference of N6.2 billion is part of the corpo­rate social responsibility of the Group.
The Managing Director of the AG Dangote, Mr. Ashif Juma, said the contract dura­tion was 24 months, but that the Group had set a target for its completion at 16 months.
Last June, Dangote Group commissioned the 26-kilometre Itori-Ibese con­crete road in Ogun State.
