The Supreme Court on Tuesday upheld the election of Governor Seriake Dickson of Bayelsa State.
The seven-man apex court panel headed by Justice Ibrahim Muhammad while delivering its judgment on the disputed governorship election in the state, dismissed the petition filed by the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate, Mr Timipre Sylva, which had challenged Dickson’s emergence under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
In the unanimous decision of the court, Justice Muhammad dismissed the appeal filed by the APC and Sylva.
It, however, reserved its reasons for the verdict till Friday, November 18.
It would be recalled that the Bayelsa State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal had earlier dismissed the petition filed by Sylva to challenge the outcome of the election.
Dissatisfied with the verdict of the tribunal, Sylva approached the Court of Appeal in Abuja which also dismissed his case for lacking in merit.
