A teenager believed to be one of the abducted Chibok girls, Maryam Ali Maiyanga, has been rescued from the grip of the Boko Haram terrorists.
Maiyanga was rescued on Saturday morning by troops of the 121 Battalion of the Nigerian Army.
The troops were deployed at Pulka, Gwoza Local Government Area of Borno State as part of Operation LAFIYA DOLE.
Maiyanga was rescued at about 6am during the screening of some escapees from the Boko Haram terrorists hideout in Sambisa forest.
She was discovered to be one of the abducted Government Secondary School, Chibok girls, and had with her a 10-month-old son, Ali, when she was rescued.
According to a statement by the Army spokesman, Colonel Sani Usman, Maiyanga has been taken to the 121 Battalion’s medical facility for proper medical check up.
Usman added that "it is imperative to state that troops have been working round the clock to clear remnants of Boko Haram terrorists wherever they might be hibernating and also rescue all persons held hostages by terrorists.”
