Reports: NASS Workers, Visitors Turned Back at 2017 Budget Presentation

Workers of the Na­tional Assembly on Wednesday went through rough ordeal in the hands of security agents as President Muham­madu Buhari presented the 2017 Budget to the legisla­tors.
Journalists and visitors to the complex were not spared as they were prevented from gaining entrance into the National Assembly.

In fact, the situation at the main gate of the Assembly complex was chaotic as op­eratives of the Nigeria Police, the Department of State Ser­vices (DSS) and NASS inter­nal security team restricted entrance into the building.
Other Nigerians who thronged the building but without their names on the list prepared by the manage­ment of federal legislature were also refused entry.
For those whose names were on the list were thor­oughly screened before they were allowed into the com­plex.
As at 3:30 pm, the main gate to the National As­sembly was still closed with security personnel man­ning the gate and preventing people from entering with the excuse that President Buhari, who came at about 2pm was still presenting the budget.
