Apostle Suleiman Honours DSS' Invitation Over Hate Speech and Anti-Herdsmen's Statement (Photos)

The waiting game for the General Overseer of Ome­ga Fire Ministries World­wide, Apostle Johnson Suleiman, ended on Monday as he appeared at the Department of State Servic­es (DSS) office last night. The cler­gyman breezed into the agency’s office in Abuja at 8:30pm.
Reporters had kept vigil at DSS headquarters waiting for Apostle Suleiman to keep the date with the secret security agency.
One of his aides had told worried journalists that the cleric would come to the DSS’ office at a later date to be fixed by the Direc­tor-General, Lawal Daura.

But The AUTHORITY learnt that Apostle Suleiman showed up at the DSS’ office at 8:30pm yes­terday and went straight to meet some top officials of the organi­sation.
At the time of filing this report last night, information on his visit were sketchy.
It was not also clear whether he came to the DSS office with 30 lawyers as he earlier planned. One of his pastors, who was contact­ed for details on his report to the DSS, declined comment. He sim­ply said: “Go to the DSS and get your information. I cannot talk to you.”

At a press conference held at the Regional Headquarters of the Church in Jahi, Abuja yesterday morning, Apostle Suleiman said that he was prepared to lead over 30 lawyers to honour the invita­tion of the DSS, however saying that his invitation by the DSS was in order.
He said: “I presume that the right thing was done. They have been in touch with me to come and that is why I am in Abuja, so that I can see them.”
The cleric insisted that his re­cent statement was based on infor­mation from a reliable source that some herdsmen were planning to attack him. He said that he stood by his statement on self-defence.
“I was talking in my person­al capacity based on information from a reliable source that certain people in the capacity of herds­men were coming to attack me and I told the people around me that if it happens, they should de­fend themselves.
As early as 10:00am on Mon­day, journalists had besieged the DSS office in Abuja in anticipation of the arrival of the cleric.
As at 17:00 hours, when most journalists left the premises of DSS, Suleiman had not report­ed. His Communications Offic­er, Frank Shuaibu, later told the reporters that the DG of DSS will invite his principal at a later date.
As early as 07.00 hours, the road leading to the Asokoro office of the DSS had been overtaken by fierce-looking regular and Mobile policemen as well as members of the Armed Forces, apparently, in anticipation of spontaneous pro­tests by the Christian faithful.
Meanwhile, the leader of the Movement for the Actualisation of the Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB), Comrade Uchenna Madu, said the manner Suleiman is being intimidated for express­ing his opinion about the Fulani herdsmen’s activities amounted to an infringement on his human rights.
The MASSOB leader said that such invitation and the manner of it by the DSS, raises doubts as to the safety of the cleric.

Madu, in an interview with The AUTHORITY, explained that such unwarranted intimi­dation was most unacceptable by MASSOB.
He said that the group was watching the trend and would not fail to protest any further in­human treatment to persons for the mere reason that their opin­ion might have differed with a few others.
