Dog Bite Kills Gambia's President-elect, Adama Barrow's Son

Eight-year-old Habibou Barrow, son of Gambia’s President-elect Adama Barrow, is reported to have died on the way to the hospital after being bitten by a dog in Manjai, near the Gambian capital, Banjul yesterday.
Gambian journalist, Fatu Camara confirmed the incident on Twitter saying “he was rushed to the hospital but couldn’t make it.”
Though, Adama Barrow won the election last year, the outgoing President has had a hard time vetting the result.

As a result of this, President-elect Barrow missed his son’s funeral because he was advised to remain in Senegal for his safety.
The regional body ECOW­AS had asked Mr. Barrow to stay in Senegal until Thursday the planned date of the inauguration.
They also said they were considering military intervention to force Mr. Jammeh to relinquish power.
Thousands of people have been leaving the country, some telling the BBC the country is not safe.
Mr. Barrow is a devout Mus­lim who is reportedly married with two wives and had five chil­dren, according to the Gambian newspaper The Point.
Meanwhile, Gambia’s Chief Justice has decided against rul­ing on an injunction filed by President Yahya Jammeh’s legal team, which is aimed at prevent­ing Adama Barrow’s inauguration on Thursday.
Mr. Jammeh had sought the injunction because he wants to stay on as president until May, when foreign judges are available for the Supreme Court to rule on the outcome of December’s elec­tion, which Mr Jammeh disputes.
It is unclear what will happen on Thursday, when Mr. Barrow in­sists his swearing-in will go ahead.
Also, a report in Sunday’s Fi­nancial Times suggested West African leaders were stepping up plans for a military intervention following the failure of attempts to persuade Mr. Jammeh to step down.
Nigeria has asked the UK to train 800 troops for such a mis­sion, the newspaper reported.
