Dr. Patrick Ifeanyi Ubah Advocates For a Social Contract Between the Political Class and the Masses

The Chairman of Capi­tal Oil and Gas Indus­tries Ltd. / Publisher of The AUTHORITY News­paper, Dr. Ifeanyi Ubah, has called for a deepening of the social contract between the leaders and the led say­ing that it would provoke enduring prosperity in the country.

Ubah who made the call in his New Year message re­layed on his Facebook page on Sunday, said he give thanks to God for making it possible for Nigerians to navigate through the tortu­ous year 2016 into 2017, urging everyone to focus on advancement of human­ity during the year.

Ubah, who also doubles as the Chairman of the Anambra Football Asso­ciation and Ifeanyi Ubah Football Club, called for a change of the national conversation and listed 12 items which he expects Ni­gerians to ponder as they go into the New Year.

According to him, “Let us mirror youth advance­ment in order to reduce the tension in our land and answer the development questions on the lips of our people.

“Let issues that border on the advancement of human course draw our attention this year.

“Let our investments be centred on poverty allevia­tion and youth empower­ment.

“Let our attention be re­directed towards improving the living conditions of our people.

“Let us delve into issues that are in conformity with building synergy and inter­ventionist platforms that will aid the development of our people.

“The exponential level of unemployment amongst our youths has reached alarming proportion. This calls for a new line of thought and fresh policy direction as we aim to stem the tide. I therefore suggest that a passionate attempt and course of action be taken to depopulate the un­employment camp.

“We should redirect our compass to agro business by modeling our economy after countries that have succeeded in this perspec­tive. This calls for synergy and well-crafted develop­ment partnership that will see us move up the ladder of agriculturally advanced economies.”
