Why I Speak out on National Issues - Senator Dino Melaye

The Senate Commit­tee Chairman on the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Senator Dino Melaye, has attrib­uted his outspokenness on national issues to his belief that to “keep quiet in an unjust society is a crime.”
He said that The AU­THORITY Award he re­ceived had inspired him to speak the “truth, hav­ing proven to be objective in its reportage.”
Melaye spoke at The AUTHORITY Newspa­pers Awards for Excel­lency and Goodn Gover­nance held in Abuja.

The lawmaker who re­ceived The AUTHORITY Courageous Senator of the Year 2016 Award, said that the award hadprovided a platform for him to do more for Nigerians.
According to him, “When you speak the truth, you die, when you don’t, you still die so I have decided to speak the truth.
“I congratulate The AU­THORITY Newspapers because they have indeed been very authoritative with the truth.
“Today The AUTHORI­TY Newspapers have prov­en that it is not about the Peoples Democratic (PDP) but merit. That is why they have honoured me today and I appreciate it,” he said.
He added that the Sen­ate would continue to work in the interest of Nigerians at all levels, especially in addressing the current eco­nomic challenges
Another awardee, Hon. Nkiruka Onyejeocha, a member of the House of Representatives, who re­ceived The AUTHORITY Outstanding Female Leg­islator of the Year 2016, also said that the award has inspired her to do more in the green chamber.
According to her, the award has given her a sense of responsibility to the peo­ple of Nigeria.
“When the notice for this award came, I asked myself what I really did to deserve this honour and I realised that indeed Ni­gerians do appreciate our efforts to make it a better country for all.
“I am indeed grateful to The AUTHORITY News­papers for this recogni­tion and I say that I will do more for the good of our country Nigeria,” she said.
