Antoine Griezmans Man Utd Move Could Be On The Verge Of Completion

Manchester United are reportedly closing in on the signing of Antoine Griezmann, with claims that a transfer move for the Atletico Madrid forward is now a ‘formality’.


The France international has been strongly linked as a priority target for Jose Mourinho for months now, and it looks increasingly likely that the deal will go through if latest reports are to be believed.
United are eager to revamp their attack as they plan for life without Wayne Rooney next season, and Griezmann’s £86million fee is not expected to be a problem for the wealthy Premier League giants.

According to the Manchester Evening News, Atletico have also accepted that their star player will be on his way out as he prepares for a switch to a bigger club.

The report cites sources close to the player himself believing a deal is now a formality, in what could end up being one of the signings of the summer.
Griezmann has 79 goals in 147 games for Atletico, including 22 already this season as he continues to show himself to be one of Europe’s most prolific strikers.
The 26-year-old could solve a problem area for United next season, with Mourinho’s side overly reliant on the ageing Zlatan Ibrahimovic for goals this term.
Diego Simeone conceded this week that there was little Atletico could do to keep Griezmann, saying: ‘Yes, because there is a termination clause. There is no security.

Griezmann himself, however, ruled out the prospect of changing clubs, though perhaps tellingly he did not mention United as one of the names he ruled out.
‘No, I don’t want to leave Atletico,’ he said. ‘To go to Paris [Saint-Germain], China, USA, Russia or anywhere else.’
