Cristiano Ronaldo Scored His 70th Goal For Portugal in Win Over Hungary. Now Fourth On All-Time European List

Cristiano Ronaldo has broken all sorts of records during his career so far, and he moved closer to become Europe's all-time leading international scorer with a double against Hungary on Saturday night.

The Real Madrid star has now overtaken Robbie Keane to move fourth on the all-time European list, headed up by the legendary Hungarian Ferenc Puskas.

The 32-year-old now has 70 goals for Portugal, to add to the European Championship he claimed in France last summer, but still trails Puskas by 14 goals.

Second on the list is a former team-mate of Puskas, Sandor Kocsis who scored 75 times in just 68 caps. 

German goalscoring hero Miroslav Klose is in striking distance, just a solitary goal ahead of the Portuguese now.

On the all-time international list, however, Ronaldo has some work still to do.

Having now drawn level with Trinidad and Tobago's Stern John, he still trails Iran's Ali Daei by another 39 goals.

Ronaldo's extraordinary goalscoring feats for his country began almost 13 years ago, when he netted in the opening game of EURO 2004, which the hosts lost to Greece 2-1.

Since then he has netted at each summer championship, except the 2006 World Cup, but curiously he is yet to score against a major nation.

Holland are the biggest European country Ronaldo has scored against - he is yet to find the target against England, Spain, France, Germany or Italy

In February 2011 he scored in a friendly defeat by Argentina in Switzerland, and he found the net three times en route to Portugal's triumph at EURO 2016.

He has already scored nine times in Portugal's bid to reach the 2018 World Cup in Russia.

But his goals have not been enough to put his side clear at the top of Group B, where they trail leaders Switzerland by three points despite a goal difference of +16.
