Manchester United demanding world record fee for Real Madrid target David De Gea

Manchester United will demand in excess of £66million for David De Gea should Real Madrid reignite their interest in the Spaniard again this summer.

De Gea, 26, came close to moving to the Bernabeu in 2015 but his move collapsed on deadline day after Zinedine Zidane’s side failed to submit the required paperwork in time.

The Spanish international signed a new four-year deal at Old Trafford just a fortnight later but the La Liga giants are interested in signing the former Atletico Madrid goalkeeper again this summer.

However, though United are unwilling to sell, they believe they could fetch as much as £66m for the Spaniard if Madrid firm up their interest again this summer.
That would be a world record fee for a goalkeeper and twice the amount that Juventus paid Parma (£33m) for Gianluigi Buffon in 2011.
