SAD: Robbers Kill Whole Family in Imo, After Rejecting N70,000 Offer

Suspected armed robbers have wiped out a family of three in Imo State.
The sad incident occurred on Sunday when the hoodlums stormed the home of the victims and killed a husband, his wife and their only son after dispossessing them of their belongings.
The AUTHORITY learnt that the robbers trailed the husband who was returning from a church service in his Lexus 330 Sport Utility Vehicle (SUV) to his apartment at Nekede Road.

Some residents said that the man was led into his living room at gunpoint and asked to bring all the money he had in the house.
When he presented N70,000 to the robbers, they allegedly rejected the money and ordered him to bring more. The man, whose identity could not be established at press time, was said to have told them that was all he had at home for the weekend.
As he was begging the robbers, his wife who was also in the living room, appealed to the robbers to spare her husband. Her plea reportedly infuriated the robbers who shot her in the dead.
At this point, the man who had been cooperative with the armed men allegedly lost his control and inquired why they had to shoot his wife. The robbers again shot him and while attempting to escape from the scene, the robbers saw his son on the staircase after hearing the gunshots and opened fire on the 22-year-old, who also died.
When contacted, the state Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Andrew Enwerem, said that the command had not been briefed on the matter.
He said that the arrival of the new Police Commissioner, Mr. Chris Ezeike, occupied all their attention.
Armed men have also invaded Anara, Isiala Mbano Local Government Area and whisked away a former principal manager of the defunct Power Holding Company of Nigeria, Benedict Kpaduwa.
Kpaduwa hails from Umudo village in Anara and is currently a Lagos-based businessman with substantial investment in his home community.
The AUTHORITY gathered that Kpaduwa had gone to his Mekcyn Investment Depot at about 9am yesterday in Anara when the armed men stormed the place and whisked him away.
Sources said the four armed men trailed him in a Hummer bus, drove into the depot and shot sporadically into the air to scare people in the area.
The source in the village said that Kpaduwa was kidnapped in the presence of his employees.
