Acting President Yemi Osinbajo yesterday evening at the State House, Abuja, held a closed-door meeting with his immediate predecessor, former Vice President Namadi Sambo.
The meeting, which lasted less than an hour, is the first time Sambo will be visiting Osinbajo since he left office in May 2015.
He arrived at the Vice President’s wing of the Presidential Villa at 4pm amidst excited greetings from Villa workers, some of whom had worked with him, and was ushered straight to Osinbajo’s office.
When the former Vice President emerged from the meeting, he spoke briefly with State House correspondents, describing his presence at the Villa as a familiarisation visit that is not unusual.
“I have come to pay a visit to Mr. Vice President and Mr. Acting President. It is a usual familiarisation visit.
“As you know, former Presidents visit Mr. President and former Vice Presidents visit the Vice President.
“I am happy to see all of you, our good friends. I want to thank you very much for this reception”, Sambo said before he was driven off in a black Mercedes Benz Sport Utility Vehicle (SUV).
