BIAFRA: IPOB Salutes Ekweremadu, Abaribe, Fayose, Others Over Kanu's Release

The Indigenous Peoples of Bi­afra (IPOB) has commend­ed some South East and South-South leaders for their role in the release of its leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, after spending over one year in Kuje Prison in Abuja
Kanu after meeting his strin­gent bail conditions last Friday was freed by the Federal Government.

In a statement issued by its Media and Publicity Officer, Emma Powerful, IPOB commend­ed the Deputy Senate President Ike Ekweremadu, Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe; Chief Tochukwu Uchen­du; Eliot Uko of the Igbo Youth Movement, and Maria Okwo of the Eastern Consultative Assembly.
The group also lauded Gover­nor Ayo Fayose of Ekiti State, for­mer Aviation Minister, Mr. Femi Fani- Kayode; former Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo; Prof. Pat Utomi, and Osita Chidoka.
IPOB said: "We are not un­mindful of the positive role played by some individuals at various stages of the process to release our leader. On this note, we wish to commend some South East and South-South political leaders, es­pecially those that exhibited rare courage to openly identify with the plight of our leader and the need to free him from detention.
"Of worthy mention are the likes of Senator Ike Ekweremadu, Senator Enyinaya Abaribe, Prof. Nwala of Ala-Igbo Foundation, the very fearless Osita Chidoka, Tochukwu Uchendu, Prof. Chuk­wuma Soludo, Pat Utomi, Eastern Consultative Assembly (ECA)".
IPOB also acknowledged the efforts of the Igbo Women Assem­bly (IWA), Igbo Youth Movement (IYM), and the Uchenna Madu-led Movement for the Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB).
"We also acknowledge the immense contributions of Femi Fani-Kayode and the honorary Biafran Governor Ayodele Fay­ose who did what no South East or South-South governorhad the courage to do.
"We are eternally grateful to the insightful analysis of Barr. Goddy Uwazuruike of Aka Ikenga on national television that turned the tide of public opinion on this case.
"We also thank Barr. Ifeanyi Ejiofor and the entire legal team, but above all, we praise the Most High God Almighty Chukwu Okike Abiama for reaffirming to the world that only Him de­termined that our leader Mazi Nnamdi Kanu should come and not man," Powerful said.
The group called for the re­lease of Biafran activists and Ni­ger Delta Avengers still in deten­tion, vowing to push ahead with the agitation despite resistances from the government.
"At IPOB, we do not abandon our own. Bright Chimezie Ishin­wa, Benjamin Madubugwu, David Nwawuisi, Chidiebere Onwudiwe and others must be released in­cluding those abducted from Ni­ger Delta in the name of the war against Niger Delta Avengers,” he said.
