It was a bright Monday afternoon and Abike was radiating with the brightness of the day. She was overjoyed to know Tunde was back in town. All her fears about his impromptu trip were over. She and Linda were having some chit-chats in the office but her mind was not in the conversation at all.
All she could think of was Tunde, she missed him during the weekend and she could not wait to see him after the close of work. She was looking forward to the big treat he promised her. Linda noticed she was not listening as she was no longer responding to her. She shrugged Abike’s shoulders from behind with a stern look.
“Hello….madam …where’s your mind…I’ve been talking to myself ooo chai?”
“hey…sorry dear…I was thinking about somethings jare” Abike smiled
“Hmmm…lover girl…e no go pass Tunde matter nah”
“hahahahaha…you know nah my friend…I’m hopelessly in love”
“hmmmm I know girl, you are…who wouldn’t love such a man…with the way he carries you like egg ”
“My dear…I can’t wait for the D-day” Abike said smiling
“Aunty it’s just 2 Saturdays away”
“hahahaha…I know jor”
“That reminds me, when did you say Wura would arrive?”
“On Friday ooo… I can’t wait to have her around…Tunde and I are picking her up at the Airport”
“Hmmmm enough gist for you girls…”
“Yes ooo…”
Wura is Abike’s cousin who is of the same age with her. They did virtually everything together during their childhood years. Wura met her soul mate when she clocked 25. She has been out of the country since she joined her husband in London 5 years ago. Her being married did not stop Abike from choosing her as her chief bride’s maid after all that was the promise they made to each other when they were younger. The logic was very simple, you do my own and I do your own. Abike fulfilled her part when Wura got married and now it was Wura’s turn. She was coming to Nigeria to attend Abike’s wedding and she planned to put up in Abike’s house during her stay.
