All Set For The Nominations And Voting of The Sixth Annual ISDMG Awards

The annual Independent Service Delivery Monitoring Group (ISDMG) awards which rates Ministries Department and Agencies  (MDAs) of government is set to commence nominations and voting.

The annual award since its inception over a decade ago has become nationally acceptable as the most credible, objective and independent assessment of service delivery by government institutions.

According to Executive Secretary of ISDMG, Dr Chima Amadi, over the years, the ISDMG, a consortium of several civil society groups had used the annual ratings and awards to hold government accountable to the people.

He said public service is a trust, and as a watchdog, the ISDMG and its partners believe that Nigerians deserve to know how their resources are being expended by those they have entrusted with it.

The ISDMG rates the MDAs and the quality of their service delivery built on 5 cardinal components, namely:

Assessment of performance in line with statutory responsibility, MonitoringTransparency and accountability, On-the-spot assessment of activities and Fiscal responsibility

Dr Amadi explained that this year's award is bringing in some innovations which includes naming the worst worst performing government agencies.

He explained that just like it has always done, letters will be sent out to over 100 MDAs based on the Freedom Of Information  (FOI) act, requesting them to provide information on the services they have rendered to Nigerians in the previous budget year.

"Those information will be independently verified, and put in the public domain for Nigerians to also vote"
