“What was all that drama for?” I asked still looking perplexed
“What drama….I don’t understand please” Amara asked without batting an eye
“The trouble you just made at the restaurant” I emphasised
“Please Emeka ….I didn’t make any trouble …the stupid waiter spoilt my dress…I just had to let those that employed him know that he is incompetent” She said as she sat on the bed scrolling through her phone
“But it was not intentional and he apologised” I tried to make her understand
“There are some things sorry cannot undo” she remained adamant
“Like seriously, come on babes that stain would go off at the slightest scrub”
“Please Emeka…just let me have a peaceful honeymoon… ” She crossed her legs this time around
I kept quiet for some minutes. I really didn’t like the fact that we were arguing and Amara was not ready to listen. I knew I had to do something.
“Babes it’s too soon for us to be arguing…please let’s stop this” I said as I sat close to her
She kept mute for some minutes and then she crossed her arms and finally answered
“But you’ve refused to understand why I acted that way” Still emphasising
“Okay, I do but you could have handled that situation in a more mature way.” I replied
“ennnnn….okay I have heard you…I just got really pissed anyway…I’m sorry I reacted that way”
“No problem, please change into something else, remember I promised to take you out for shopping” I said feeling relieved that she had at least apologised
“Shopping …hmmm …I almost forgot…let me quickly change” She agreed with her mood lightened up
*******************************************
“Obim I don’t understand ooo…haba this boutique is too local now…see their inferior things…they have refused to upgrade” Amara complained as we went through the items in the boutique I took her to.
“But baby I use to buy you things from this same boutique before now and you never complained”
“Ennn….I know, but then I was not your wife, Obim you know girlfriend or fiancé is different from wife ooo…you treat your wife specially…Obim biko upgrade me” she said playfully
“Hmmm…Emeka’s wife, okay ooo, so where do we go now?”
“Don’t worry, just follow my lead Amara’s husband” She pulled me close as we both burst out with laughter
****************************
“N300,000 and N450,000 for just handbags?” I screamed as I checked the price tag of the two handbags Amara picked interest in at the new boutique we were in.
“Shhhhhh…Obim please bring your voice down…don’t embarrass us…can’t you see that other people are shopping heavily…do they have two heads?” She whispered
“They don’t have two heads but I’m sure they make millions per minute” I chipped in with a frown
“Obim don’t tell me you just brought me here to embarrass me ooo…I don’t like this your talk abeg…this is pure leather” Amara replied hitting the bag with her palm
“Okay, what about the dresses that are going for N150,000 each and you have picked 10 already…are those pure leather too…you have not picked shoes and jewelleries ooo”
“Obim the fabrics are of top quality”
“Top quality kwa…hmmm…so this is the upgrade you were talking about”
“Yes Obim…upgrade me biko, I am your wife, your beautiful wife for that matter” She praised herself while turning 360.
“Okay ooo…so I guess I must get used to this new level as the husband of a beautiful wife” I tried to cheer up
“Exactly Obim, money is for spending”
“Okay…ngwanu shop ooo” I succumbed
“Thank you Obim…this is why I just can’t stop loving you” She whispered hugging me tightly.
