Minister of Women Affairs, Aisha Jummai Alhassan, was the centre of attraction this morning as she waltzed into the Council Chamber of the Aso Rock Villa for the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting.
Alhassan had through last week declared and maintained her support for former Vice-President, Atiku Abubakar as presidential candidate in 2019, even if President Muhammadu Buhari decides to seek re-election then.
Her position has since pitched he against majority of the members in her party, the ruling All Progressive Congress, who have demanded her resignation or be sacked.
She countered instead that President Buhari was not mad or naive to taken such action.
Today provided the first public opportunity for her to meet with Buhari and other cabinet members during the FEC meeting.
As she arrived few minutes to the commencement of the meeting, Alhassan greeted the Minister of Mines and Steel, Kayode Fayemi, who was standing with the Chief of Staff, Abba Kyari and the Permanent Secretary, Jalil Arabi, before she entered the hall.
In the hall, Alhassan went round to exchange pleasantries with many of her other colleagues already seated before she proceeded to also greet Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo who was also seated in the hall and engaged in some discussions with him.
They broke off their conversation when the arrival of Buhari was announced. The President walked in at 11am and the FEC meeting commenced.
