Reports: Nigerians React, Call For The Arrest Of Elrufai, Mama Taraba - #ElrufaiGate

Since the news of the alleged role played by the Kaduna State Governor, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai in the abduction of over 200 Chibok school girls hit the internet, Nigerians have taken to different platforms on social media in rage, demanding for the arrest of both the accuser and the accused. Nigerians have said that they are accomplices.

The news has generated so much public outrage and anger because of the sensitive nature of the matter. Recall that over 200 school girls supposedly writing Physics exams suddenly disappeared from their school in 2014 just prior to the 2015 general elections.

The incident gave birth to a right group called the Bring Back Our Girls which was later linked to Governor El-Rufai of Kaduna State as the main financier. The group was managed by one of his former aides, Hadiza Bala Usman who is now the managing director at the Nigerian Port Authority (NPA).

To further give thrust to the allegation by the Minister of Women Affairs who claimed that Governor El-Rufai had a hand in the kidnapping of Chibok girls, former Minister of Aviation, Chief Femi Fani-Kayode also said he has been praying that the whole truth about the kidnapping will be unravelled someday and that the truth is gradually coming out while praising Mama Taraba for her courage to speak up. He urged her to say more.

However, a denial of the allegation has been done by a Twitter account @SenAishaAlhassn that cannot be verified to have any link with the embattled serving Minister of Women Affairs.

Nigerians are asking the DSS, and other security agents to wade in and arrest both El-Rufai and Mama Taraba so that they can provide useful information that could aid the unravelling of the whole truth about the Chibok abduction. One Nigerian posited that in this said case, the immunity that the governor enjoys must be ignored since Human Rights lawyer Chief Femi Falana once said that in a matter of national interest, the immunity of a governor can be waved aside.

A statement refuting the said claim by the minister was also circulated on social media by one Dantsoho Suleiman who claimed to be the SA on media to the Minister but majority of Nigerians are saying that Hajia Aisha Alhassan should refute the story personally, noting that there are so many online jobbers who could impersonate and give misleading information which will not be in the interest of Nigerians who want to get to the root of the whole issue.
