Direct And Indirect Imposition Will Spell Doom For PDP

By Rev. Olorunmagba Emmanuel

From the feelers we are getting it's worrisome that our great party has not learnt from the mistakes of the past that almost killed and buried the party,  if not that real supporters, our founding fathers and other critical stakeholders of our great party refused to give up on the party.

2. We must keep reminding the leadership of our PDP that when Sheriff was about to be imposed on the party, some of us kept raising alarm but our warnings were ignored until they plunged the party into prolonged leadership crisis.

3. We must again remind the leadership of our great party that we have not recovered from the psychological trauma of how Senator Sheriff and his APC collaborators gave Edo, Ondo and Benue LGA elections to the ruling party, APC on a platter of gold.

4. After we fought assiduously to preserve and rescue our great party, the leadership of PDP at various levels seem hellbent on sparking another internal crisis through both direct and indirect imposition of who becomes what in the National Working Committee (NWC).

5. First, they came up with the issue of micro zoning, (which is indirect imposition) to pave way for their preferred candidate to emerge unchallenged.

6. Secondly, we are hearing again that some party stakeholders and governors are now mapping out strategies to imposed Prince Uche Secondus, the former Deputy National Chairman,  who was one of those that contributed to the prolonged litigations by attempting to hold on to power when he was acting after the resignation of Alh. Adamu Muazu.

7. In the light of the above, I add my voice to that of other lovers of our great party, the PDP and democracy to call on our governors, our leaders and other critical stakeholders of our party and everyone concerned to allow the party delegates elect members of the Next National Working Committee (NWC), based on those that can deliver.

8. And we also call on the members of the National Caretaker Committee (NCC) of our great party to avoid this impending catastrophe by providing enabling environment for all qualified candidates to contest and ensure that they conduct free, fair and credible election in the forthcoming Elective National Convention.

9. I have decided to raise alarm publicity because our secret appeals were ignored during the Sheriff era and when the problems landed, we all suffered together publicly.

10. Thus, I conclude by calling all well meaning leaders of our great party to do all they can to avoid the avoidable doom that direct or indirect imposition will cause. Any form of imposition may spark another round of crises that it will take the special grace of God for us to recover from before the 2019 general elections: and we know what that means.

A STITCH IN TIME SAVES NINE.
