Gov Nyesom Wike, the Governor of Rivers State, one of the best performing states in Nigeria today, is no doubt, a great man and an excellently performing Governor among his peers within the present day Nigerian state. He is a formidable pillar of the today's PDP. You can't talk about the great fortunes of the PDP today without the mention of this great visionary leader.
Nevertheless, politics is to a large extent a game of many conflicting interests. It's also visible today that this great Nigerian has been really busy and untiringly doing exactly what every good politician would do. I am saying that he has been moving from state to state with Prince Uche Secondus, the erstwhile Deputy National Chairman and former Acting National Chairman of our great party, the PDP, soliciting for support for the rumoured candidature of Secondus for the position of the National Chairman of the PDP.
Ordinarily, it is a great move and within their legitimate right but the issue is the morality and the implication of such.
Is Prince Uche Secondus now a puppet? Why would a man of his status allow himself to be so belittled. It is sure a bad omen, as such a man has shown he can't be himself if rewarded with such responsible office. He is proving to be a dangerous disaster preparing to happen.
Prince Uche Secondus has unequivocally shown and manifested gross incompetency for even the singular fact that he can't boldly and responsibly advise the Governor of his state to stay and concentrate on the job he was elected to do other than flying around with him from state to state because of his own ambition at the expense of the resources and people of the state.
The point is, the difference is clear. Prince Uche Secondus is not man enough for the job. It means he is a disaster waiting to happen, as his candidature if allowed to metamorphose into reality would eventually spell doom for our great party as his puppet status won't let him be balanced in judgement and rational. He would rather be tossed about nepotisticaly.
Meanwhile, we will not forget in a hurry how it was almost becoming a problem to get Prince Uche Secondus legitimately handover power when he was acting as Chairman. And how the imposition of few leaders of PDP led to the Sheriff protracted battle that almost killed the party: We are still mindful of the casualties, remembering Ondo, Edo, Benue and Lagos.
Direct and indirect imposition is part of the problems that pushed PDP to the present state.
Let reasoning prevail...
Let selfish interest be downplayed for collective interest to prevail for the good of all of us...
