Roaring Fire Rips Through Trump Tower In New York

A FIRE broke out at Trump Tower on Fifth Avenue in Manhattan, New York.

The New York Fire Department (FDNY) said more than 125 firefighters were at the scene.


A string of fire engines are also lining the luxurious Fifth Avenue in downtown New York.

Two people have been hurt - one seriously. One of those injured was a firefighter.

A FDNY spokesman said the fire was caused by an electrical box fault on the roof of the building.

Video footage shows white smoke rising above New York.

Photos also show firefighters on the roof dealing with the fire.

Emergency crews were called to the tower at around 7.20am local time (12.20pm GMT).

The fire has now been brought under control.

The Manhattan Trump Tower is US President Donald Trump's flagship skyscraper, and is the headquarters for The Trump Organizaton.

His residence is on the top three floors of the building, while his children's offices are also in the tower.

The president and his family do not currently live in the tower after moving into the White House following last year's inauguration.

Fist Lady Melania and their youngest child Baron, however, did live in the tower during the first few months of his presidency.
