Catholic Priest Regains Freedom In Delta

Rev Fr Samuel Agwameseh, a Delta-based Catholic Priest has regained his freedom after being kidnapped by gunmen suspected to be herdsmen on Saturday December 14. 

The Catholic Priest who was kidnapped while returning from Onicha-Olona Community where he had gone for the production of the church’s weekly bulletin, regained his freedom on Monday night.

It was further gathered that abductors of parish priest of St Lawrence Catholic Church in Issele-Mkpitime community of Aniocha North Local Government Area, demanded for a ransom of N20m. 

Confirming the release of the Catholic Priest, Delta State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Adeyinka Adeleke said he is not aware of payment of any ransom. 

He said; 

 “The priest was released last night (Monday), but I’m not aware if ransom was paid or no."
