Plateau has recorded 5 cases of Lassa fever in the recent outbreak as confirmed by the State's Commissioner of Health, Dr Nimkong Ndam on Friday January 24.
Giving a breakdown of the cases recorded, Ndam said two patients have been admitted at the state hospital while three are already undergoing treatment. He added that one of the patients has already completed his treatment while another has been discharged.
On protective measures they are taking to contain the disease, the commissioner of health told newsmen;
“However, the health personnel are on ground to handle the situation and they have the required protective kits to wear while treating such cases.
“We are in contact with the hospitals in the state to address such cases promptly and to curtail spread of the disease.We also have the protective kits required of health workers to wear when treating such cases."
