Governor Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia state has disclosed how his administration resolves farmers/herders conflict in the state.
Appearing on a Channels Television programme, the Abia state Governor who revealed that there is a Farmers-Herders Resolution Committee in the state which is headed by the Commissioner of Police, also said that they pay a compensation of N100,000 for any cow that is killed on account of a misunderstanding between the farmers and the herders and pay the same amount for farmlands destroyed by strayed cows.
The Governor who noted that there's been a spike in the abduction, rape and killing of farmers in the state, added that sometimes those behind the act don't have cows. He described those behind the act as infiltrators who disguise as herdsmen and also averred that they will be going after such people.
