Sergio Ramos Tests Positive For Coronavirus

Real Madrid and Spain captain, Sergio Ramos, has tested positive for coronavirus ahead of his side’s Champions League quarter-final second leg against Liverpool.

The 35-year-old will now spend the next 10 days in self-isolation, ruling him out of Madrid’s fixtures against Liverpool, Getafe, and Cadiz.

Ramos missed the first leg of the Champions League tie, which Madrid won 3-1, due to a calf injury, and was already expected to miss out again.

The Liga giants confirmed the news in an official statement, which reads: "Real Madrid CF announces that our player Sergio Ramos has given a positive result in the last Covid-19 test that has been carried out."

He is the second player to test positive for the virus at the club in recent times following his central defensive partner Raphael Varane.

Eder Militao and Nacho Fernandez started against Liverpool and Barcelona this past week and will have to continue paring each other for the next couple of games.
