FG Releases N844m to Anambra, Enugu, Ebonyi, 4 others for Schools Feeding Programme

The federal govern­ment has released funds to seven states which have now started serving one hot meal a day to more than one million primary school pupils under the National Homegrown School Feeding Pro­gramme.
This was announced yesterday by the Media Office of Acting President Yemi Osinbajo, in an up­date on the Federal Gov­ernment’s Social Invest­ment Programme.
A total of N844, 360, 550 has so far been re­leased for the commence­ment of the programme in Anambra, Ebonyi, Enugu, Oyo, Osun, Ogun and Zamfara States as at the end of last week, the Presidency said.

In Anambra, Enugu, Osun, Ogun, and Oyo States, the feeding pro­gramme has actually started, while it is expect­ed to start this week in the two other states of Ebonyi and Zamfara, bringing the total of pupils to be fed in the seven states to 1, 043, 205.
The Presidency state­ment further explained that a total number of 11,775 cooks have now been employed to prepare the meals in those states already, while local farm­ers in the states are also the one producing the food prepared and served.
