Again: Presidency Cancels FEC Meeting Over Buhari's Absence

The weekly Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting failed to hold on Wednesday with the Presidency blaming the development on the just-concluded Easter break.
The Presidency added that the cancellation of the cabinet meeting had no link with President Muhammad Buhari’s ill-health.
Last Wednesday, the meeting was presided over by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo instead of Buhari who was in the Villa but said to be attending to other state duties.
This caused anxiety over the President’s health as he had scaled down his official functions following his return on March 10, 2017, from a 50-day medical vacation in London.
The anxiety heightened when the FEC meeting for this week was cancelled although State House correspondents only learnt of the cancellation when cabinet members did not show up.
Buhari’s Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Malam Garba Shehu, explained that the long Easter break did not afford the FEC Secretariat enough time to circulate relevant documents ahead of the meeting.
He noted that as human beings, the FEC Secretariat staff also deserved a break and could not circulate the documents before the Easter break.
“The staff of the Council Secretariat resumed on Tuesday after the Easter. There was no time to prepare and circulate memos to ministers.
