Thrilling Comeback WIN as FC Ifeanyi Ubah Went Headstrong Against Shooting Stars

FC IfeanyiUbah ended the first stanza of the season by annexing all the three points in the offing at the FC IfeanyiUbah International Stadium in a matchday 19 clash of the ongoing Nigerian Professional Football League season by defeating Shooting Stars FC by two goals to one courtesy of a brace by Godwin Obaje to cancel out Sunday Faleye's opener.

The game was a physical contest from start to finish as the first twenty minutes saw 3SC come out to take the game by the scruff of the neck hitting the woodwork twice through Faleye and Junior's efforts and also getting close but being repelled by the magnificent Ikechukwu Ezenwa in goal and also the quick feet and thinking of Adou Blaise to intercept Faleye's shot on two different occasions.

The Anambra Warriors in the 21st minute failed to repel the Oluyole Warriors as a swift counter ensued from a corner kick advantage as Adebayo Abayomi fed the ball to Sunday Faleye who dribbled and turned Adeleye and placed the ball into the bottom right corner beyond the reach of Ezenwa in goal to give the visitors the initiative as they defended stoutly and ended the first half leading by a goal to nil.

The second half started with Anambra Warriors firing on all cylinders to get back into the game and such pressure paid off after Obaje's effort from a bicycle kick was saved by Goalkeeper Charles Tambe. Minutes later Skipper Samuel Olabisi brought down Seka Pascal in an ensuing goalmouth melee inside the box resulting in a penalty which Godwin Obaje converted to the left of the goal post in the 57th minute sending the goalie the wrong way, after Shooting had GoalKeeper Tambe to thank for numerous saves and also the collective defending that kept them in the game in the earlier stages of the second half as Abayomi Junior got sent off for shoving and dissent before the spot kick was taken.

The equalizer brought a spark into the game as both sides all tried getting the winner with Adeleye the closest as his goal bound header was thwarted brilliantly by Goalkeeper Tambe, but unfortunately all Tambe's heroics came to nothing as in the closing stages of the game, the Oluyole Warriors defender Opeyemi Adetoye handled the ball inside the box resulting to another penalty which Obaje stepped up and converted, sending Tambe the wrong way again to give the Anambra Warriors all the three points in an encounter at the Fortress that was graced by the presence of the President, Proprietor and Founder of FC IfeanyiUbah in the person of Dr Patrick Ifeanyi Ubah.
