2019 Election: PDP Set To Produce 30 Governors

The Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) yesterday boasted of getting 30 governors in 2019.
The party is presently controlling 11 states, which are, Abia, Enugu, Ebonyi, Delta, Akwa-Ibom, Bayelsa, Cross River, Rivers, Ekiti, Gombe and Taraba States.

The party said this when a governorship aspirant from Anambra state, Alex Obiogbolu, picked the party governorship and expression of interest forms at the cost of N6 million as against N11 million.
Speaking at the occasion, the Spokesman of the party, Prince Dayo Adeyeye said, “This party belong to Nigerians and we want to have 30 governors in 2019.
Explaining why the party reduced its governorship forms, which were sold in 2015 and in the past Edo and Ondo gubernatorial elections for 11 million, Adeyeye said that the gesture is to encourage large participation as the party is now in the opposition. “Before now, the nomination fee was N10 million and expression of interest N1 million, but we have reduced it. We decided to start with Anambra, not because Anambra is poor, but, we recognise the fact that we are now in the opposition and we want to encourage more participation so that aspirants can use the remaining money for campaign.
“We had 55 aspirants from Anambra in the last election and the forms were sold at N11 million. That underscores the importance of Anambra.”
Addressing the aspirant, Adeyeye noted that Obiogbolu was the first aspirant to pick the governorship form, adding, “You are the first person to pick the form; take advantage of that and try to be the number one in the primaries.”
Abdu Ningi, who is presently the Organising Secretary, pointed out that the governors that have governed Anambra came courtesy of PDP, adding that this is the time for PDP to take over the state.
Ningi said that other parties are only following the footstep of PDP, urging those, who left the party during and before the crisis to come back as the door is still open for them.
He said, “We promise to be fair, above board and considerate. All that we promise PDP members both at home and abroad is to rebrand the party. This party is not for one person but for all.
