Paris Club Refund: A’Ibom State Govt Set To Pay 247 Retirees

Arrangements have been concluded by the Akwa Ibom State government to pay the gratuities of 247 re­tirees from the N10bilion Paris Club Refund it recently received from the Federal Government.
To facilitate the exercise, the state government has directed them to report to the Accoun­tant-General’s office for neces­sary documentation..

The state’s Accountant-Gen­eral, Pastor Uwem Andrew, who confirmed the development, said that the beneficiaries were drawn from Abak, Eket, Etim Ekpo, Etinan, and Ibesikpo Asu­tan local government areas.
Others are from Ikono, Oron, Ukanafun, Uruan, and Uyo Sub-treasuries. They were left out of the previous exercise.
Andrew, in a statement titled: “Gratuity Payment”, which he issued on Tuesday, directed the beneficiaries to appear before his office for payment.
He also directed them to come with two passport photographs, Pension Identification Card, let­ters of employment, promotion and retirement from service, and a white/blue paper.
Twenty-seven of the benefi­ciaries are from Abak Sub-trea­sury, 17 from Eket, Etim Ekpo (5), Etinan (4) and Ibesikpo Asutan (4).
Ikono, Oron Sub-treasuries each has four beneficiaries, five from Ukanafun, Uruan (3) while Uyo has 106 beneficiaries.
Recently, the Commissioner for Finance, Mr. Nsikan Linus Nkan, confirmed the receipt of the second tranche of N10bil­lion Paris Club Refund. He said that more outstanding pension and gratuity issues, among oth­ers would be settled with the money.
